Note to Self – Moral Imperative

A principle originating inside a person’s mind that compels that person to act.

Fundamental principles of our moral duties are Categorial Imperatives.

cc: Kant’s Categorical Imperative

I kind of dont get it.

I know that (at least pertaining to Kant) it is Imperative because it is a command. Categorical It is in virtue of applying to us unconditionally, or simply because we possesses rational wills, without reference to any ends.

A categorical imperative would be something that we react upon without seeking a end. It is an unconditional command of conscience i.e saying thank you.

I found this interesting : (cc: Ethics. the rule of Immanuel Kant that one must do only what one can will that all others should do under similar circumstances.

And it is stated that will is our conscious when it is choosing an action.

I will research this and come back to it later…

Note to Self – Expressio Unis

The expression of one thing is the exclusion of another.

One of my good friends is in law school, my soon to be journey after completing my MBA, and I love that now we have something else in common. From studying philosophy, internships and networking, I naturally have already been introduced to some parts of law; but now I have her to share this wonderful world with. I can not wait for the day we are teaching eachother new things and discussing different topics. I enjoy being surrounded by those that seem to have an interest in the non convential norms of women.

Mary Wollstonecraft

A Moral and Political Theorist, someone I’m sure would rollover in her grave today if she knew about the outlandish and ill treatment that we will allow to happen to us on a day to day basis. But, then, she would definitely stand and cheer at the women who are making a positive impact everyday in STEM, butttt we come back to square one where women are not accepted really in her profession… PHILOSOPHY.

Thankfully, through the proper research and exposure she is now seen as the first English feminist.

Once made equal…

Once made equal to man, to woman becomes his superior

Oh dear Socrates,

There’s nothing I can say about this that can not agree with you more. Frankly, I feel some sort of way about this quote in correlation with todays society. I think men, although they will never admit it, some what fear the presence of a powerful woman taking over the space they once had.

But, I will leave the essence of your quote here. Surely, to revisit it and indulge on the topic later.

“For most of history…”

“For most of history, Anonymous was a woman.”
-Virginia Woolf

There is no reason why a woman can not be at the forefront of leading. We are strong, we are powerful and we were created to build and lead. We were made from man, but that is not to say we must always stand in the shadows of him.

Believe in yourself and your abilities and everything will fall together.
